While walking you can go from a 6 foot lead to a 3 foot lead by pulling the lead through the D-ring at the collar end of the lead and return to a 6 foot lead just as quickly. This ability to change length instantaneously makes this an ideal training lead - short for maximum control or longer for maximum freedom.
